September 2024 - Ward Grant

Patricia Okoro, Manager and Hayley Smith, Matron applied for a grant earlier this year to provide eight Denver chairs for the Haematology Day Unit. The unit provides care for patients requiring blood transfusions and other treatments who may be in the unit for several hours at a time. The couches provided were not very comfortable and also nit suitable if patients became unwell  there was then a need to transfer them to a standard bed. Friends were impressed with Patricia’s wish to improve things for patients in the unit and the application was accepted.

5 members of the committee visited the unit on 11th September. The chairs have been delivered and are in use. Staff are very pleased with them. They are comfortable, easy to manoeuvre and good for all eventualities. Staff are able to access patients easily and the chairs are easy to clean. Patients find them comfortable.
