November 2024 - InterAct Stroke Support Grant

Friends have supported a grant application initiated by Elsa Cardoza, Senior Nurse on the stroke unit for InterAct Stroke Support which the charity have acknowledged with thanks. The charity is
dedicated to supporting stroke recovery through reading and story telling. They employ professional actors to deliver a variety of reading material that is selected to suit the needs of each stroke patient. The approach can help stimulate memory, engage language and lift spirits-ultimately alleviating symptoms of post stroke depression which can slow or even arrest recovery. More and
more research is pointing to the benefits of this work and they report that it does seem as if they are genuinely fulfilling a need. The grant will be used to fund the charity’s work at RLH.
