November 2023 - Grant Application Adult Critical Care Unit (ACCU)

Prof Trevor Beedham, Richard Gardner and Jean Robinson visited ACCU and met Helen Hewitt, Matron and staff to hand over items. Lizzy Blake had contacted Friends to request some hair care products which would meet the needs of their patients with thick hair or those who have had head injuries and have matted and tangled hair which NHS basic hair care products are unsuitable for. She and her colleagues know that taking the time to do a patient’s hair has huge rewards and demonstrates respect for patients’ basic needs, their culture and their image and also makes them and their families feel cared for.

Lizzy had requested specific shampoo and conditioners and combs which Friends were very pleased to be able to help supply.
