June 2023 - A Time to Remember

Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU) held a memorial day for bereaved parents and families known to the unit to remember their children. The day includes memory making, nature inspired family
activities and readings. Friends provided financial support for the event organiser, Tindersticks who
provided the outdoor activities as well as for the printing of invitations to families and an order of
service booklet containing the running order of the multi faith service and poems.

Felicity Mitchell Bereavement and Family Liaison Nurse PCCU wrote to say a huge thank you for the
support and funding for the day which was held at Walthamstow Wetlands in early June. “The sun
was shining and the day ran beautifully. We had 7 bereaved families attending and it was great being able to provide a space for them to share their experiences and memories. Some direct feedback is:

“It was a really nice event. So nice to meet others in the same position.”

"It was great seeing the fathers that attended congregating around the fire and being able to support each other. We would not have been able to put on this event without your support, so thank you all so much and for all your hard work.”
