Clair Chen from the team applied for a grant to purchase posters and a spinner to help them raise awareness in the local community of the importance of early communication development and how this can be supported by caregivers. The team attend events as part of their campaign called “Get down, get talking Tower Hamlets!” and they hope the resources will help attract people to their stall. This will then enable them to start conversations about children’s communication skills. 1 in 5 children have communication needs but this is often unrecognised in young children and can lead to other difficulties as they grow older. Many children would benefit from communication support but it is not accessed.
