Sarah Gardiner Family Liaison Nurse applied for a grant in 2021. She has a new role to support families on the Children’s Intensive Care Unit as well as parents undergoing bereavement. She applied for funding to purchase some practical resources including children’s clothing and toiletries for times when families arrive completely unexpectedly on the unit after children experience sudden and unexpected illness or accidents or are the end of their life.

Sarah has been in touch to report back on how the grant has been used.

Thank you to The Friends of The Royal London Hospital for the amazing donation that went towards creating the emergency resources cupboard which is made up of items families can use at difficult times. We have already used some of the baby grows for a baby who sadly had to go into emergency foster care and they had nothing with them. I know the items will also be so beneficial for families whose child is at the end of their life. They can make the environment as much like home as possible and families can go away with positive memories. We are so grateful for all your support.
